EL RANCHO Est. 1979

From Sneaky Dee's to College Street

The story of El Rancho began in 1979 when founder Ramon Calero launched a small Spanish restaurant on the second floor of what was then the Sneaky Dee's building. Inspired by the warm hospitality of his Spanish roots and the dynamic flavors of Latin America, Calero set out to create a culinary home for Toronto's growing multicultural community.

As the restaurant's reputation grew, El Rancho relocated to its iconic home at 430 College Street. Here, we expanded the experience, combining fine dining with Toronto's first dedicated Latin social dance venue.

Over the decades, El Rancho has become more than just a place to eat; it is a community institution. We have introduced generations of Torontonians to the joy of Salsa and Bachata dancing, hosted legendary live acts, and served millions of plates of hot, sizzling paella.

Our Legacy

"We didn't just build a restaurant. We built a home where Spanish cooking and Latin rhythms meet to form a cultural heartbeat in the center of Toronto."

- Ramon Calero, Founder
